Several years ago someone said to me, "Just think, someday Scrip will be completely automated and virtual." I thought that was an odd comment. But think of it - we now can make phone calls on phones that aren't connected to the wall of our house, we can do our banking without going to the bank, we can shop without going to the store. We can watch TV without turning on our TV's or putting up an antenna!

And it does appear that more and more Scrip is going the direction of virtual as well with the options of ScripNow! and reloading...

ScripNow!

So many of our supporters want their Scrip now. They don't have opportunity to think and plan ahead for their expenditures. That's why ScripNow! is so perfect for today's Scrip supporter - they can print it right at their computer! They don't have to wait for ALA to send them a card!

Using ShopwithScrip.com to purchase ScripNow! and/or to reload existing cards is an easy way for our supporters to generate a larger tuition credit for their family or another family of their choice.

The list of retailers who offer ScripNow! has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year or so. This week two of my favorite retailers, Kohl's and PF Changs, joined the ScripNow! list. The Kohl's ScripNow! can even be used to make payments on the Kohl's charge account.

We try to include a sticker on the plastic cards that are available as ScripNow! or that can be reloaded. Please point out this sticker to people who purchase Scrip and encourage them to take advantage of ScripNow! or reloading whenever they need it.

A partial list of ScripNow! retailers is on the back of the order form - be sure to print both sides of the order form. I will update it to include Kohl's and PF Changs and other new retailers soon.

Consider several other reasons to encourage ScripNow! and reloads:

• Less postage or envelope expenses to send you a plastic card.
• No money to exchange when the enroll in PrestoPay (no checks to write, no credit card fee to pay).
• Fewer cards for you to track and take care of.
